Horse Shows and Equestrian Events Sponsor Information
The Southwestern Fair Commission Inc. has hosted and produced equestrian events for over 25 years at the Pima County Fairgrounds. There are 20 annual equestrian events ranging in length from 1 day to 6 weeks of competition. Purses and prizes vary from ribbons and trophies to $25,000.00 for Grand Prix events. Events and competitions include Hunter/Jumper, Arabians, Reining Horse, Paint Horse, Quarter Horse, Dressage, Rodeo, Gymkhana and 4/H.
Event staff includes full time feed and bedding, a footing specialist and maintenance workers to service the events with dragging, watering the arenas, stall maintenance and general facility upkeep during the events. We also have experienced staff in the hospitality industry, to help you plan extracurricular activities, catered functions and discounted hotels.
Every arena has all weather footing. With the exception of the rodeo arenas, footing consists of topsoil and sand mix. The footing specialist is available to accommodate most riding styles. Jumps are colorfully painted and replaced when needed. Stalls are maintained year round and include 274 barn stalls and 536 portable stalls.
The horse show facilities also include Horse Show Offices, Jumps, Judges Stands and Announcers Booths with adequate P.A. Promoters and events are also provided the opportunities for usage of these facilities as well as the Party Paddock and La Cantina Bar, full service bar is staffed and open during nightly functions.
