The Pima County Fair needs the help of our local resident, military and veteran’s groups, churches, clubs and other organizations to provide volunteers to help with the set up of the American Veteran’s Traveling Tribute  April 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and the take down, Monday, April 28th, beginning at 8:00 a.m.  A total of 14 people are necessary on both days and lunch will be provided.  Additionally, two people are needed every day, April 17 – 27th, in shifts, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  These two volunteers are needed to assist people trying to find the names of their loved ones on the Wall panels.  Comp tickets to the Pima County Fair are provided to all volunteers.

 

The Southwestern Fair Commission Inc. is pleased to host the American Veterans Traveling Tribute & Wall Exhibit at the Pima County Fair, April 17 – 27, 2008.   The AVTT Wall includes a 370 foot long replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall, The Cost of Freedom Memorial which is a stand up exhibit made of gold dog tags naming those who have given their lives since Vietnam, a 911 Memorial exhibit, Vietnam War art display and a Tribute Panel where fair visitors can pay personal tribute.  In addition to the exhibits, a computer and locater will be available to assist with name location, shaded seating areas will be provided and there will be military and memorial ceremonies most days between 11:00 a.m. and noon.
